"Janganlah kamu takut terhadap mereka, karena tidak ada sesuatu pun yang tertutup yang tidak akan dibuka dan tidak ada sesuatu pun yang tersembunyi yang tidak akan diketahui. Apa yang Kukatakan kepadamu dalam gelap, katakanlah itu dalam terang; dan apa yang dibisikkan ke telingamu, beritakanlah itu dari atas atap rumah."

IPC Seminar of Divine Mercy (2):
Knowing, Worshiping and Loving Jesus, the Divine Mercy

STEPPING UP to the second phase of teaching on the Divine Mercy, the International Pastoral Community of Batam, holds the second teaching, entitled "Knowing, Worshiping and Loving Jesus: the spirituality of the Divine Mercy", Sunday, February 23, 2014, at Bible Center, Sukajadi, Batam. Considerable good number of people attend the teaching which is held after the Sunday Mass. This second teaching is a part of the trilogy of Divine Mercy teaching: Holy Scripture, Spirituality and Ministry.

From mystical vision to current life

As might be know by many, the devotion of Divine Mercy is based on the mystical revelation of Jesus to St. Faustina Kowalska, an uneducated Polish nun, who happened to record all her vision in along diary at the advice of her spiritual director. Based on this vision, the church today, develop a distinguish model of spirituality, that might contribute to the richness of Christian spiritual heritage. In his talk, Fr. Aurelius Pati Soge, highlights the need of building a link between the visionary revelation of St. Faustina, biblical teaching and its relevance for Christian life today. When people adopt this model of communication with God, people then move into a way of life, the one that we call as spirituality.

Participants of the second teaching: Spirituality of Divine Mercy

Knowing, worshiping and loving Jesus

In the talk that lasts for around one hour, Fr. Pati Soge emphasises three key points that might help people to develop their own spirituality to communicate better with Jesus the Divine Mercy.

  • Knowing Jesus. Many people claim to know Jesus, while eventually they do not. Some even based their knowledge of Jesus based on some supertisious experience that they describe it as private revelation. Instead of searching for uncertain model, it is better to return to what we inherit from Jesus himself. The real picture of Jesus is the one that was stated in the Gospel. So, the best way to know Jesus is eventually to meditate his written words in the Gospel in order to paint one's response to His will.
  • Worshiping Jesus. Our pure spiritual encounter with Jesus should lead us to experience some sort of spiritual joy and peace. Therefore, knowing Jesus means living a spiritually joyful life. This joy is expressed in worshiping Jesus, either individually or communally. There are several ways of worshiping Jesus, the Divine Mercy, such as the Holy Hour, reciting koronka, adoration before the blessed sacraments, etc. Apart from all these devotional forms, people are urged to frequently participate in the Holy Eucharist and Sacrament of Reconcilliation.
  • Loving Jesus. The higher part of humen effort to be attached to Jesus is to love Him. Loving Jesus means loving all aspect of divine revelation that lead people to be closely attached to Jesus. Firstly, it will remains in one's christian personality and will continue inspiring him from within. Secondly, it will encourage people to do something to reachout other people as a part of implementing Jesus' love to humankind.

This teaching sums up the second phase of Divine Mercy activities in Bible Centre, and will be continued with the third teaching that will be done on March 23, 2014, at the Bible Centre, Sukajadi, Batam. (ap)
