"Janganlah kamu takut terhadap mereka, karena tidak ada sesuatu pun yang tertutup yang tidak akan dibuka dan tidak ada sesuatu pun yang tersembunyi yang tidak akan diketahui. Apa yang Kukatakan kepadamu dalam gelap, katakanlah itu dalam terang; dan apa yang dibisikkan ke telingamu, beritakanlah itu dari atas atap rumah."

IPC Seminar of Divine Mercy (3):
Bringing the Mercy of God to the world around

THE THIRD SUBJECT of 2014 teaching in Divine Mercy underlines the ministry as an integral part of the building of the devotion of Divine Mercy. For that particular reason, the International Pastoral Community of Batam organises the teaching entitled "Bringing the Mercy of God to the world around", presented by Rev. Fr. Aurelius Pati Soge, SVD, Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Bible Center, Sukajadi, Batam. This teaching actually mirrors the whole building of Divine Mercy movement, the balance between spirituality and ministry.

From merciful God to merciful ministry

All efforts to develop strong spirituality of Divine Mercy would add to nothing, unless there is a clear implementation that will reach out many people. Therefore, ministry is an essential part of the whole movement. To begin with, the basic meaning of ministry itself is none but the on-going mission that Christians inherit from Jesus, who directly handed over the mission to his disciples. Therefore, ministry is an integral part of Christian pilgrimage and attached to the baptism, and not a privilege of the Divine Mercy movement. Here we are challenged to define, what sort of ministry would be suitable in the line of Divine Mercy spirituality..

As the image of God in this devotion is the merciful God, the first glimpse of the mission is something to do with the work of mercy. Jesus emphasises that what we do or we do not do to one of the little one, we do or do not do for Him (Mt 25:40.45). Meanwhile St. James describes deeds as important as faith, as the faith without deed is dead (Js 2:26). So, the duty of the church is to ensure that the merciful will of God is properly implemented. Here we step up to take part, to bring the mercy of God to as many people as possible around the world.

Mission ad intra and ad extra

To sustain this particular ministry, our mission is divided into two parts, namely mission ad intra and ad extra. Mission ad intra consists of (a) developing mindset tha instantly responds to the call of God to bring his mercy into the world, (b) forming multi-parties networks to gather all sources for further collaboration, (c) studying extensively current social problems and finding out the mission partners, and (d) regularly renewing our commitment through on-going formation. While mission ad extra is to initate and execute certain ministries which are applicable to the spirituality of Divine Mercy. Here we have several options: for the poor and marginalized, for the mission and for the creation. Through the passion to the poor and marginalized we give chance to them to experience the merficul presence of the Lord. Through passion for the mission we support good men and women who dedicate their lives to the ministries that reaches out many people. And through the passion for the creation we do our best to sustain the integrity of creation that will provide good environemt for many people today and generations to come. (ap)
