"Janganlah kamu takut terhadap mereka, karena tidak ada sesuatu pun yang tertutup yang tidak akan dibuka dan tidak ada sesuatu pun yang tersembunyi yang tidak akan diketahui. Apa yang Kukatakan kepadamu dalam gelap, katakanlah itu dalam terang; dan apa yang dibisikkan ke telingamu, beritakanlah itu dari atas atap rumah." |

First Communion: Jesus Loves Sania and Samantha |
||||
FIRST COMMUNION is always a great day for the children and their families, as the children who accept the Body and Blood of Christ for the first time, move to certain stage of spiritual life with new role and responsibility, because here they experience the fulness of the loving presence of Jesus Christ, as they can literally touch, taste and receive Him in their own bodies, hearts and minds. This thing is underlined by the chaplain of International Pastoral Community of Batam, Rev. Fr. Aurelius Pati Soge, SVD, on the first communion of two children, Sunday, June 14, 2015, at St. Arnold Janssen Catholic Church, Bible Centre, Sukajadi. The two happy girls are Sania Anna Ajo of Indian origin, daughter of Ajo David Thomas and Susan Varghese, and Samantha Grace Tjong Fernandez of mixed Filipino and Indonesian family, daughter of Sammy Rina Fernandez and Angelika Ja My. The two families happily present the two girls in full white garments with lighted candles, joining the opening procession at the beginning of the Eucharist. The girls lead the profession of faith followed by the whole congregation, just to emphasise that because of this faith we now celebrate the most intimate communication between the Lord and His people, as He totally sacrifices himself on the altar every day, so we are able to inherit necessary spiritual strength to live dignified lives, inspired by the Word of God. From now on the girls should live in certain way that clearly portrays the presence of Jesus in their life, bearing in mind that they are no longer ordinary children with no moral and spiritual responsibility. |

Children ministry Although the International Pastoral Community is administratively under St. Peter Parish, it is given limited independence in designing its sacramental ministries for international community. Children of international families are invited to use this opportunity to have the blessing of special ministries. The requirement is that at least one party (father of mother) is expatriate. When children are from Indonesian families, amid their regular presence and participation in international ministries, they would be encouraged to go and get the services at their own respective parishes. The preparation consists of lessons on initial sacraments, deeper analysis of the Holy Eucharist, practice of confession and short recollections. The instruction is carried out by Mr. Joe Castaneda, a lay volunteer, a teacher from Mondial School. The day prior to the first communion, both girls and their parents do the confession as the last spiritual preparation. |
