"Janganlah kamu takut terhadap mereka, karena tidak ada sesuatu pun yang tertutup yang tidak akan dibuka dan tidak ada sesuatu pun yang tersembunyi yang tidak akan diketahui. Apa yang Kukatakan kepadamu dalam gelap, katakanlah itu dalam terang; dan apa yang dibisikkan ke telingamu, beritakanlah itu dari atas atap rumah." |

(18/4/2014) While the rest of the Indonesian people enjoyed their long weekend holiday, for Christian it is the day of deep meditation and reflection on the suffering and death of Jesus Christ. The day started with morning out door way of cross around the Bible Centre, presided by Fr. Angelo, started at 9 am. It is a unique way of cross. Fourteen couples took chance in turn to lead the meditation at every station. The husband carried the cross on his shoulder while the wife led the prayer. I believe the meaning of the cross would penetrate the hearts of every family member and significantly change their life. At 1 pm, again the congregation gathered together in the chapel for meditation on the seven last words of Jesus Christ from his cross on the top of Golgotha. A seven branch candle stick was put in the middle with seven candles on them, all lighted and extinguished in turn at the end of one phase of meditation: (1) Father, forgive them as they do not know what they are doing; (2) Today you will be with me in paradise; (3) Woman, here is your son; and this is your mother; (4) My God, my God! Why have you forsaken me; (5) I thirst; (6) It is finished; and (7) Father, into your hand I commit my spirit! Praying, meditating, unifying oneself with Christ who suffered on the cross in agony, is eventually a spiritual struggle that everyone should do. We have received so many blessings from the Lord, is it too heavy to ask just for once to suffer with him? At 3 pm, the liturgy of the Good Friday took place. Assisted by Fr. Aurelius, Fr. Angelo conducted it well. But, look! This small church was so crowded. No surprise, after the liturgy, many came to me, saying, "Father, why did you not provide more crosses, so the line was not that long!" Understood! Just on cross for more than four hundred people was not a very pleasant one. But again, the atmosphere of being touched by the suffering of Jesus was very strong, an all were unified in prayer and sacrifice.
(19/4/2014) "This is the light of Christ!", acclaimed I after lighting the Paschal Candle. "Thanks be to God", answered the congregation. And the procession of the light started. Singing the exultation in candle light is a great spiritual experience. It even pictured some sort of romantic and magical gathering, as every one was with his or her own lighted candle, meditating in silence. The glow of candles' lights seemed to form a spider web around the greater Paschal Candle that symbolized the light of Christ. We share the same light of Christ, we should keep the light within our family and commit ourselves to keep it alive until the return of the True Light, Jesus Christ. For years I have sung the exultation, including in English for the last couple of years, yet it remains a touching part that could bring one into tears. I recall my first time singing the exultation, back in 1983, when I was still in second grade of St. Dominic Minor Seminary of Hokeng. Now I realize, it is a privilege for me to be able to officially sing this glorious part of the Easter Vigil liturgy. Having this privilege, a role that is exclusively assigned to the ordained deacon or priest, isn't it a great source of joy and happiness?
Sunday, April 20, 2014. Here is the conclusion. Any spiritual journey makes sense when it comes to the completion, that is the fullness of faith. For us, this completion is nothing more but the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The disciples were in doubt, so would have been us if we were with them. Yet the history of our faith proved to be true. This resurrection gives the fullness of joy. I see a normal circle of life: joy, suffering, crisis, alienation, spiritual determination, and joy again. Tell the world, that you are happy at this day of resurrection. |
